Welcome to the 2017-18 School Year
Brigitte Jackson, Principal
Welcome to the Eagle’s Nest Academy website. My name is Brigitte (Brown) Jackson and I am the proud principal of Eagle’s Nest Academy. It is my honor and pleasure to work alongside our founder, Dr. Reginald Flynn as we lead the next generation of leaders in Flint, Michigan.
I have been a school administrator in Genesee, Wayne, and Macomb counties. I have had the pleasure to advocate for and serve children over the past 26 years. Prior to going into administration, I was an elementary teacher for Beecher Community Schools and Willow Run Schools in Ypsilanti, MI. I am so excited to return to my hometown of Flint to serve the scholars at ENA. Yes, I am a PROUD Flint Northern VIKING!
Our school is a public-school academy. We share with families that we are a public school in a private school setting. Our scholars are held to high standards and the opportunities afforded them will be great this year! Our team of educators is committed to providing a rigorous, innovative and rewarding curriculum that will not only lead our scholars to great achievements, but also prepare them for the demands of the adult world. Although they are elementary children, we believe that what we instill in them will resonate forever. It is our intent to develop a mindset of high expectations for every dream and aspiration they have in life.
Our diverse curriculum has been specialized to meet the needs of our scholars while offering them opportunities to be competitive in the future. We offer character education using the Nguzo Saba principles, scholars are taught in the manner in which they learn, our upper elementary will learn financial literacy, scholars are taught entrepreneurship skills, and we have a STEM focus that teaches space flight aviation and robotics. Our afterschool program this year will include a publishing center and our scholars will author and publish two children’s books.
We will work diligently to accomplish the mission of our school which is to SOAR ASAP (academically, socially, artistically and physically). We have established relationships with several community partners including: EL Education, National Basketball Players Association, United Way, Job Corpe, Catholic Charites, Jack and Jill of America, RBI (baseball), Safe Routes to Schools, Building Healthy Communities, MSU Nutrition Program, and many others. Our team stands ready to ensure that our scholars are prepared at ENA and beyond.
My husband, Willie Jackson, ENA’s Family Community Coordinator and I have 8 adult children and 7 grandchildren, ranging from 2 to 10 years of age. Family is so very important to us. Thus, we work for parents from the standpoint of parents. To be successful here at ENA I will need you as our partners in education. We value you and your role here at the school. We appreciate that you selected ENA out of all the many schools you could have considered.
We have several parent events scheduled for the school year. If I have not personally met you, I look forward to meeting you soon. I will be posting updates on our Facebook page (Eagle’s Nest Academy) so please feel free to like our page if you have not done so already. The link is: http://www.facebook.com/eaglesnestacademy. Please give us a review on how we are doing; we love feedback and communication from our families.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have concerns or questions. My door is always open to parents. If I am not available, I will get back with you within 24 hours or less. I can also be reached by email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or on my cell phone at (810) 373-5468 or you can remember it as 37-FLINT.
